Mike Bell

Senior Immigration Adviser #201200212

One of New Zealand's leading migration experts and has successfully helped thousands of migrants since 2005 to happily settle in New Zealand. Mike believes migrants have a right to good information before making important life-changing decisions.

Mike specialises in highly complex cases such as ministerial intervention, unlawful immigration status, deportation situations, declined visas and correcting errors made by Immigration New Zealand (INZ), other immigration advisers and lawyers.

On 12/12/12 Mike became the first person in the world to be awarded the Graduate Certificate in New Zealand Immigration Advice - the level 7 official qualification developed through the New Zealand government to ensure competency of licensed immigration advisers. Mike's overall result for the course and four exams was an impressive 96.5%

Mike was also engaged to assist the Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology (formally Bay of Plenty Polytechnic) with the development of the year long diploma course.

Mike and Tammy emigrated to New Zealand from London in 2000 looking for a safer environment to raise their three young daughters, settling in Christchurch.

After arriving in New Zealand they used their first-hand knowledge of migration to help others, first building the award winning move2nz.com website as a source of independent and unbiased information on all aspects of migration and settlement.

Between 2006 and 2009 Mike and Tammy founded, funded and ran New Zealand's first and only Migrant Centre dedicated to supporting skilled migrants. This completely free service gave a helping hand to over 10,000 migrants, dramatically increasing migration success rates.

Mike and Tammy have also presented highly successful information seminar tours through the UK, applauded by senior immigration department staff, to provide good information to migrants before they got on a plane - the intention: to help them avoid many of the common settlement problems.

Believing very strongly that migrants have a right to clear unbiased information, Mike and Tammy are passionate advocates for fairness and transparency in immigration.

Our MC for the night was the hilarious South African born multi-award winning comedian and TV personality Urzila Carlson

We were also joined by Hon Ruth Dyson, (Chief Government Whip in the House of Representatives in the Jacinda Ardern Government and an MP since 1993)Hon Dr Megan WoodsHon Nicky Wagner and Darien Fenton (MP and Labour Party Immigration Spokesperson).

Our very
good friend and artist extraordinaire (originally from Liverpool) Ruth Killoran, and former Londoner Jax Hamilton who was NZ Masterchef finalist in 2011 (and now among other things is the face of Countdown Supermarket TV Adverts and with a number of cook books under her belt) and is always serving up inspiration.
